Lunka
Coen's Sister
“The mercy that saved her is the leash around her brother's neck.”
Lunka never wields a sword or casts a hex, yet almost everything Coen does is for her. She is his sister — and her sickness is the spark that lights the entire story.
The plague that starts everything
Lunka falls gravely ill with the plague sweeping Vale Sangora. With no cure within a peasant family’s reach, she is dying — until the vampire lord Brencis intervenes and saves her with his own blood.
It is not a gift. Brencis immediately turns that mercy into leverage over Coen’s family, effectively holding them hostage and setting the roughly 30-day clock that frames the adventure. (For how that timer actually works, see our 30-day time limit explainer.)
Why she matters to the player
Lunka grounds the stakes. The game isn’t asking you to save the world — it’s asking you to save her, and your mother Esme, in the time you have left. Every choice about how far Coen leans into his vampire nature carries the weight of who he’s doing it for.
That personal scale is a big part of what makes Dawnwalker’s story feel different; we dig into it in the Story, Setting & Characters guide.
